Founder and Consultant

Akachukwu Okafor is the founder, and lead consultant at Change Partners International, an energy, environment and sustainability consultancy firm that specializes sector policy analysis, market intelligence and facilitating public private partnerships for energy and environmental development projects in emerging markets across Africa.

He has over 11 years of experience in energy, environment, water and sanitation, education, information communications technology, youth leadership development and diplomacy. Akachukwu also serves as a senior energy and policy analyst at Sustivar Energy, a renewable energy company that specializes in designing and deploying renewable energy solutions for agricultural purposes. He is also the Editor, Energy and Environment, at the Initiative for Policy Research and Analysis (InPRA). He writes regularly on energy, environment and climate issues in Business Day (Nigeria's top business and financial newspaper) and speaks frequently in the media. Akachukwu have received international awards and recognitions, chaired and spoken at conferences in cities including Accra, Abuja, Brussels, Geneva, London, Nairobi, Paris, Washington DC and Seoul.

In 2013 he received an award from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of South Korea for a global essay entry towards Seoul Cyberspace Conference 2013. He is also a peer reviewer for Energy Research and Social Science journal published by Elsevier.

Akachukwu holds a Master of Science in Energy Policy for Sustainability from the University of Sussex, United Kingdom. He is a Mandela-Washington Fellow, and received public management and leadership training from the University of Maine, Orono, USA. Akachukwu loves to hike and kayak.
